Abstract:
(Show)
The article describes events that led to and surrounded Dölpopa Sherap Gyeltsen's (dol po pa shes rab rgyal mtshan, 1292-1361) development of the view of gzhan stong ('emptiness of other', 'other emptiness'), and reception of his teachings in Tibet. The article traces influences that possibly contributed to the formation of Dol po pa's system of thought, and also shows how innovations in Buddhist terminology were used by dol po pa in shaping his views.(Yaroslav Komarovski 2004-04-26)
