Abstract: (Show)

The article looks at Nepalese perceptions of astronomical and geological phenomenon. The article discusses the incident of the collision of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 with Jupiter on July 16, 1994, which sparked media coverage all over the world. Radio Nepal also covered the event. The article includes the different stories that surfaced about the event. In another incident, the author writes that five relatively educated women chose to believe that an awakened pig, rather than tectonic plate movement, caused a Japanese earthquake.
