Abstract: (Show)

The article gives an account of Kitini Gaon panchayat located on the south-eastern fringe of the Kathmandu valley about eight miles from the headquarters of Lalitpur district in Patan. It gives the total land area occupied and its distribution based on cadastral survey. The article explains that agriculture is the main occupation of the region while some gain their livelihood from other sources. The article incorporates the result of a survey in which information was gathered from a family living there. It puts forward the idea that Kitni panchayat in social terms cab be understood from the role that land plays both in material and social realms. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2006-10-31)
