The article traces the mass media tradition in Nepal and its changing patterns. It discusses the development of newspapers as mass media. It was only in 1961 that the national news agency named "Rastriya sambad samiti" was created. It was later renamed "Rastriya samchar samiti" in 1971. It also discusses the beginning of Radio Nepal.
