Abstract:

Tibetan Medicine arose in the seventh century integrating in an original synthesis other traditional medicines on the basis of an original medical system developed in the region of Shang-Shung (Western Tibet) in the second millennium b.C. It is articulated on three planes: somatic, Tantric-energetic and Dharmic-spiritual. Th ese levels, which may also be considered separately, are always interrelated and correspond to the essential aspects of the human condition: body, energy and mind. It uses the dynamics of the three humors: wind, bile and phlegm, which regulate physiological functions. Tibetan medicine is a science widely documented in many Western texts and studies. (English)
