The article discusses on the people of the Ankhu khola valley. The total population of the Ankhu khola valley is 16,914 distributed through four gaon panchayat - Sirtung, Darkha, Jharlang and Laba according to the 1971 census. The article includes a map of the valley and an ecological transect from Tipling to Pasang, showing vegetation stages and the distribution of rhododendrons. The lingua franca in the upper valley is Tamang, a Tibeto-Burmese language, not Nepali. The article discusses the caste and group distribution of the inhabitants of Ankhu khola valley, including the hierarchy and caste system which existed in the valley. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2007-01-07)
