Abstract: (Show)

The article discusses the traditional political systems of Mustang, Nepal. Particularly, the article examines the traditional political system of Synag village of Mustang district. The author argues that to take root and become sustainable, democracy cannot merely be copied from the west but would have to be based as much as possible on democratic elements of indigenous systems. Unfortunately, little is known about Nepal's traditional, local political systems. This study is one attempt to close this gap. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2007-02-25)
