This article advocates the adoption of Buddhist perspectives in meeting the challenges posed by increasing global "interdependence." It argues that globalization has added significant complexity to the formation of public policy in social, economic, and political spheres. The author advocates the adoption of Buddhist perspectives in meeting the challenges posed by such increasing "interdependence." The author cites the case of Bhutan, particularly in its adoption of Gross National Happiness as a development aim, as an example of utilizing Buddhist principles in public policy. The end of the article focuses on education and examines how Buddhist ideals might be applied in the Bhutanese educational curriculum to prepare students to meet the challenges of local and global interdependence.
