Abstract: (Show)

The author lauds the new field of positive psychology, but suggests that the efforts directed to this field not be too narrowly focused. Transpersonal and Eastern psychologies also have a body of knowledge about happiness and well being that should not be ignored. The author discusses some of the research that has already looked into these Alternative approaches to understanding human well being in psychology and provides a short reference list to formal studies.
