Koru Mindfulness® is an evidence-based curriculum specifically designed for teaching mindfulness, meditation, and resiliency to college students and other young adults. You will learn several skills, including meditation, breathing exercises, guided imagery, the body scan, and more. Each of these skills is designed to help you manage stress and enrich your life. Over 600 Harvard undergraduates and graduate students have participated in the four week Koru Program.
Gaelle Desbordes, a researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital and instructor in radiology at Harvard Medical School, is probing mindfulness meditation’s effect on depression, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to take before and after images of the brains of depressed patients who’ve learned to meditate. The work seeks to understand the internal brain processes affected by mindfulness meditation training in this population.
