Nowadays, our human life becomes machinery and increases mental stress. Yoga Meditation relieves our mental stress and re-establishes mental harmony when practiced regularly, and hence, it promotes physical, mental, and spiritual health. The previous studies on meditation show that there is relationship between mindful meditation, brain, and heart. As the meditation has direct impact on the mind power, the mental health is influenced by the depth of meditation. Also, brain and mind has the direct control over the heart, and physical health is indirectly related by mindful meditation. Experimental investigations on the effect of meditation are proposed by monitoring electroelectroencephalogram (EEG) with using brain-computer interface (BCI). The brain waves of the person who is under meditation will be captured using Neurosky BCI mind wave kit. The mental health status is analyzed by monitoring alpha, beta, and theta brain waves during long meditation. The impact of mediation on the heart rate variation (HRV), respiration rate, and blood pressure, etc., is monitored to evaluate the effectiveness of meditation on the physical health status. The captured brain waves through Neurosky BCI mindwave kit are filtered to get alpha and beta waves. The alpha and beta brain waves are analyzed using BCI Graphical User Interface (GUI) software tool to investigate the power levels of each wave and duration before and after meditation. The observed data was further analyzed through IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) tool for studying about mean, standard deviation, and variance of brain wave parameters, which shows the positive impact on physical as well as mental health parameters, especially cardiovascular (CV), and heart rate variation (HRV) parameters, etc.

Much of the Western world was completely unaware of the profound impact of the breath on the body and mind until the 1970's. It was during this time that Swami Rama astonished physiologists by demonstrating perfect control over his heart rate and brain waves―something Western scientists didn't believe humans could possibly achieve. In this book, Swami Rama shares some of the basic breathing techniques practiced by Himalayan yogis, so that you too can experience the profound effects of pranayama and breath control. The goal of Science of Breath is to present knowledge and practices regarding the breath in a way that can be applied to personal growth. This book is a masterful guide to systematically identifying bad breathing habits, replacing those habits with healthy breathing patterns, and developing control over pranic flow. Learn how to develop and master the link between your body and mind through the understanding of the breath. With increased awareness and control of the subtle aspects of breathing, one can effect deep physical and psychological changes and begin to master the roaming tendencies of the mind. Science of Breath opens the door to a new way of being, providing a powerful tool in the pursuit of holistic health and personal growth.
Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have very rich tradition of herbal medicines used in the treatment of various ailments. Tribal communities practice different types of traditional healing practices. Enough documentation is available on the healing practices in other tribal communities except Mishing community of Assam and foot hill of East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh hence the attempt was made for the same. A survey on folk medicinal plants and folk healers of Mishing tribe was conducted in few places of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district of Assam and East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, where this ethnic group is living since time immemorial. All information was collected based on interview and field studies with local healers within the community. The identification of medicinal plants collected with help of indigenous healers was done. Such medicines have been shown to have significant healing power, either in their natural state or as the source of new products processed by them. This study is mainly concentrated with plants used to cure diseases and to enquire about different healing systems. Detail note on the method of preparation of precise dose, the part/parts of plants used and method of application is given.
