This article discusses recent findings illustrating that ravens are able to adapt their behavior by attributing self-perception to others, a trait that was thought to be uniquely human. Additional studies demonstrate ravens’ ability to identify understanding through gaze cues, suggesting that these animals only respond to surface cues, thus not experiencing the same abstractions as human beings.
